I currently can not find my journal ANYWHERE!! As a result, I’m taking a break from blogging about the Kauai trip until the search party arrives.
A week ago, Chris came home with half a lamb that he had bought from a farmer in Pincher Creek. In total, there were 4 roasts and 12 chops. Did I mention I had no idea how to cook lamb? I gave one roast and a few chops to my Dad hoping he would cook it up and invite us over for dinner. No luck. So last weekend, I found a recipe in BBC Good Food magazine and whipped this up:
Not to toot my own horn, but I was quite surprised at how good this was !Probably because I was terrified it would be overcooked. Even the gravy worked out fantastic.. but then again it had wine in it, so it was a good before we even tried it 🙂
I needed a book that I could mindlessly flip through without any thought. Problem is , I couldn’t put the book down!! The story begins with an accident, forcing a family into a deep secret. As the story unwinds, a twist threatens to unravel the secret and blow the cover for those involved dun dun dunnn…
The Miracle Worker
Over the last few months, I have been noticing that my legs have becoming increasingly itchy. I tried everything; coconut oil, washing with clinque, overdosing on allergy medication ( kidding ). But like clock work, in the evenings I would find myself scratching away for hours. I came across this lotion at Walmart and within hours of using it, I was itch free:
I think it’s the oatmeal that cools the skin? I’m honestly not sure. All I know is that it works and I will be raving about this product for a long time.
In the meals defence it was exactly what the menu described; a pin wheel with salmon, scallops and shrimp. I am sure you can imagine what I thought this looked like when it showed up in front of me. Even when I managed to get over that idea, I couldn’t get past the salmon being spun into a spiral instead of the filet it’s suppose to look like.
I love Firestone but I won’t be going back until I can get the image out of my head.
A Change of Scenery
At the end of June, I will be officially moved out of the basement suite. Chris and I made the decision to move in together after I got back from vacation. I noticed that when a few people found out about the change, the first question asked was how long we had been together? This really confused me. If I gave the ‘wrong’ answer , would I get the frown? I’ve noticed that the same judging looks happen when discussions come up after a couple gets engaged after a ‘ short time’ or don’t wait ‘ long enough’ after a wedding before having a child. I believe everyone’s situation is different and while we are all entitled to our opinions of how a relationship works, we should also be respectful of others choices.
The answer by the way is 6 wonderful months :p
– a girls trip to the Cypress Hills Winery. I will be SEVERELY stocking up. This wine is deadly
– Jaxon’s first day at Doggy Day care.
Do you have any suggestions for good books to read?
What are your plans for June?
