Today is our one year wedding anniversary! Wow that year flew by!
I still have such clear memories of our wedding day; the smile on Chris’s face when he first saw me, taking photos with our friends and family and having our first dance as Mr. and Mrs. Konynenbelt. If I could do our wedding day all over, I wouldn’t change a thing. It truly was the definition of a perfect wedding day.
Our first year of marriage has certainly been an eventful one! We knew I was pregnant two weeks before the wedding which meant Chris dealing with my raging hormones ( HA!) before he had even said ” I do”. During my pregnancy, we really tried to soak up what time we had as just the two of us.
Like any marriage, we have dealt with some highs and some lows. We felt that incredible rush and joy that comes with being new parents. Then over a few weeks, the adrenaline faded and the exhaustion set in. It’s not easy to admit but Chris and I said things to each other during that time ( me more than him) that neither of us meant. Our relationship was tested by resentment, frustration and complete lack of knowing what we were doing. But then around 3 months, Chris and I started to create our own routine after Leah was in bed . We ate snacks and watched Netflix in bed together. As simple as the routine was , it became something we both looked forward to. We had some of our best conversations during these evenings.
The biggest change I have noticed our the past year is our ability to work as a team. I would like to think Chris and I have always been supportive of each other but there is something about raising a little person that creates a tighter bond.
One of my favourite things about Chris is how open-minded he is to all my crazy ideas and CONSTANTLY change my mind ( sorry honey!!).
When Chris and I reminisce about our wedding day, we both agree that our favorite part was hearing the letters we wrote to each other. Because we love the memory so much, we have decided to write letters to each other every year on our anniversary.
We celebrated our anniversary by going out for dinner ( thank you Shanny for babysitting!) and taking a walk around Henderson Lake. We also listened to our wedding song in the car and just like on our wedding day , Chris sang every word to me.
Chris, thank you for a wonderful first year of marriage. And I am so sorry my dishwasher loading skill have not improved haha 😘😜
