1.We have zero Halloween candy left over and I’m devastated. I never went trick or treating as a kid (in England) so I already feel jipped out of years overdosing on sugar . We had over 80 kids show up on our doorstep and we completely ran out of candy by 7:30pm. If you have any left over Aero/ Mars/ Smarties that you aren’t attached to, let me know!! Just kidding.. kind of.
2.I had my first ever flu shot this week. I’m pro vaccination but something about the flu shot has never sat right with me. With the exception of the 2015 Konynenbelt sickness ( which took out 8 family members within 3 days and had me vertically vomiting), I haven’t had the flu in years. My Dr. recommended I get the shot as protection for baby and I really can’t argue with that logic. I was worried I would get sick from the shot but apparently, that’s just a placebo effect??
3. .. But even with the flu shot, sickness has managed to find its way into our house. Yesterday, Chris told me he had a sore throat and 24 hours later, he has the full on THE MAN COLD.I loaded him up with chicken noodle soup, Vick’s vapor rub and kicked him out .. HA! just kidding. Did you know that there are actual studies that say chicken noodle soup can help speed up recovery… why is that? As long as it works I guess.
4. I am hoping Chris feels better soon because we are attending my sister’s wedding on Saturday. The wedding is at a hall in Cochrane and it looks like the weather is going to be great. Kate and Tony are doing dinner potluck style so I am presently on the hunt for a good pasta salad recipe.
5. Speaking of food, I made this Butternut Squash Pasta Bake this week. I had great intentions to take my own photos of how it turned out, but it was so good that I couldn’t stop eating it. We are having a potluck dinner with our friends in a couple of weeks and this is going to be one of the dishes we are making .
6.Finally, last weekend, Chris’s family came to town for a funeral. After the funeral, most of the family went out for lunch.Even though the reason why everyone came together was sad, it made me feel so grateful to be a part of such a big family .
From day one, I have always felt the importance family from Chris’s side and it’s so humbling to be around people who love so freely and welcome outsiders into their family with open arms.
