Time is flying.. and my belly is getting bigger! I have been told I should start posting baby updates and since I have been reading ALOT of mommy blogs lately (which do updates), I figure why not.
How far along: 18 weeks and a few days
Gender: Unknown. We have two ultrasounds scheduled. Our first ultrasound is next week and our second ultrasound is in two weeks. The second ultrasound is with the 3D clinic that just moved back to Lethbridge. We will be sharing the gender after the second ultrasound.
am was a hardcore stomach sleeper so it has been a challenge teaching myself to sleep on my side. I wake up numerous times a night either because I’m dying of thirst, need to pee or I can’t get comfortable. I have tried using a body pillow but I’m not having much success. I am hoping I will eventually adjust.
I also find that I get congested a night. At first, I thought it was cold but my mom friends tell it’s a common symptom during pregnancy. I have been using nasal strips and defusing essentials oils to try to help the stuffiness.
Maternity Clothes: Sort of. All of my shirts still fit, it’s just my pants that are getting snug. I have been living in leggings and Lulu.
Cravings: I am still all about the sweet things. I don’t know if a day has gone by that I haven’t either eaten chocolate or thought about eating chocolate.
Food Aversions: Technically not a food aversion, but I can’t stand the smell of scotch. Chris sometimes has a glass evenings and the smell of it makes me want to lose my cookies.
Baby Purchases: The only thing I have bought is a Solly Wrap. I am in love with the idea of baby wearing, I just hope Baby K is game for it 🙂
Symptoms: I felt a little queasy twice during the evening, but it was nothing major.
My energy levels really depend on the day. One day I will want to nap all day and the next day, I will clean the house for four straight hours.
Emotionally, I find myself a bit up and down. We went to see a movie on the weekend and I teared up during two of the trailers. I tried to ask Chris if he thinks I’m more emotional lately but he pleaded the fifth. Smart man.
I feel bigger, maybe that’s obvious. For many weeks, I would wake up in the morning with barely any bump but as the day went on, I would get bigger. I am now at a point when I wake up with a bump which I know is normal, but since I have never been pregnant before, it still all feels foreign to me.
Missing Anything: Smoked salmon sushi. WINE. Being able to order caesar salad without having to be that crazy preggo lady and ask if its made with a raw egg ( which it usually is).
Movement: I have felt what feels like little flutters a few times, almost always on my lower left side.
Best Moment: We think we have decided on our baby names. I have had a girl name in mind for years and Chris thought of the boy name while we were in Vegas.
Looking forward to: Seeing our little peanut next week!
