*** I asked Chris to guest post and share his thoughts on our wedding day**
July 9th, 2016 was the best day.
My day started off at home until I was picked up by my buddy Jono. The groomsmen got together at Cora’s for breakfast. Can’t get married on an empty stomach. After chowing down, we headed to Jay’s house. On the drive over, I thought about how Jan’s morning was going and if anyone ( who didn’t already know) had figured out Jan was pregnant. I know she hasn’t talked about it yet, but Jan had a rough couple weeks before the wedding with the pregnancy. Thankfully, she seemed to be doing better the day before the wedding. When we got to Jays’s we shot some hoops followed by some ping-pong.
My groomsmen are like my brothers. Three of them are part of the lineman brotherhood and the other two are my golf buddies. It was great to get to spend a relaxing morning with them and just hang out .
Time seemed to fly that morning and it was soon time to get ready. Just as it did for Jan, the limo was early to pick us up.
We arrived at the Galt really early so we decided to take some photos first.
Everyone took their seats and it was go time. Just as the groomsmen started to walk out, my mom’s corsage fell off her wrist.
Fortunately, we got it figured out just as I headed down the aisle. As the bridesmaids walked in, I felt totally calm, even when I watched my sister tear up when she saw me.
My first thought when I saw Jan walking to towards with me was that she looked beautiful. Breathtakingly beautiful. I had an idea that her dress would be form-fitting but I couldn’t have been prepared for what I saw. She looked stunning. Her makeup, her hair, the dress, everything was amazing and I made sure to tell her she looked amazing the second her Dad gave her away.
It felt like it was just Jan and me throughout the ceremony. I read her my letter and watched her tear up. When she read me her letter, I had to laugh that we both ended up mentioning the dishwasher. The ceremony was over quickly and I was anxious to get to that first kiss as man and wife.
We had a couple of minutes after the wedding for just us . I couldn’t stop looking at Jan.
After the wedding, we did some family photos followed by the wedding party photos. We had so much fun taking these photos.
Our reception was awesome. The food was great, the only downside to it was that we didn’t get to take the leftovers home! Our M.C ( and my buddy) Scotty did an awesome job of running the show. All of the speeches were great. My mom and sister did a rap to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song and there wasn’t a dry eye after Matty’s speech.
The rest of the night was spent dancing ( the Thong Song moment was epic), partying and hanging out with some awesome people.
Our wedding day was everything I had hoped for AND MORE! We are both so thankful to everyone who came to spend the day with us .
P.s Here is a copy of the letter that Jan wrote to me:
