Last week was the definition of great timing. Chris had finally wrapped up the job he had been running in Red Deer and I had the week off. It has been different and at times, a bit challenging having him working away from home. We were so lucky that our schedules matched so that we could spend the whole week together.
Chris got home Sunday afternoon and I made him one of our favorite basic dinners, chicken fingers with oil and vinegar dip . This recipe was awesome so I thought I would share it:Less mess chicken fingers
We decided to take it easy on Monday and enjoy Family Day. We took Jaxon for a nice long walk at the dog park and he loved it ( as usual)
Valentines Day was our anniversary but since Chris didn’t get home until late on Sunday, we decided to celebrate on Monday. We both love the cheese fondue at The Grizzly House in Banff, so decided to try to make it ourselves:
Our biggest goal of the week was to check off a few things from the wedding to do list. We were shocked when we actually counted out how many months left we have until the big day. Only four and half months to go !!! Time is flying. On Tuesday, we ordered tuxedos, a wedding band for Chris and booked a DJ. We still have lots to do ( mostly just little things) but it feels good to be checking things off the list.
Wednesday, we headed to Red Deer since Chris had to sign off on the project he had been running. We had hoped it would be a quick couple hours, but unfortunately his work phone was ringing off the hook all day.
I took the opportunity to call and check on my dress ( it’s in the country!!!) and book a few decor items.
We spent the evening with Chris’ sister and our nephews who live in Red Deer. We played hockey at an outside rink but since the ice had melted, we packed it in pretty quickly.
The rest of the evening was spent playing with the boys, reading stories and eating snack plates.
Thursday, we head back home but not before making a stop at Sephora ( Chris just HAD to get a new eye cream haha.. I kid). I may have spent just a little too much but more to come on that in February’s ‘ Currently’ post. We stopped in Calgary to have a quick coffee with my best friend, Marie. Even though it’s only a two-hour drive, I hate that she doesn’t live in town any more. She’s my sister from another mister.
Friday was pretty low-key. We watched the Tom Hanks movie on demand.. that I can’t think of the title. That said, it’s worth watching.
Saturday, I had a painful/glorious massage while Chris went to the shop to work on prepping for Sask. In the evening, we went for Sushi with our friends, Alyssa and Colton at the Lighthouse. Colton, as it turns out really doesn’t like fish. We convinced him to try a piece of salmon sushi and I thought he was going to vomit on the table.
It was highly entertaining ( sorry Colton!!)
After dinner, we headed to The Great Escape where we had booked one of their rooms. None of us had been before so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. I won’t explain how the rooms work or what surprised us because its worth trying out on your own. We didn’t make in time but we had SO much fun doing it. We are already looking into booking again #addicts
Chris packed up and headed to Sask. on Sunday with his crew. The shift is longer (15/6) so I will be seeing a little less of him in the next few months. It’s not always easy being in a relationship with a man on the road ( hats off to the women who have been doing it for years!). But I will say that we really do appreciate the time we have together. While it was only a week, it was a great week and I’m truly grateful for the time we got to spend together.
