am not was not a Halloween person. I never trick or treated as a small child , mainly because knocking on doors asking for candy probably wouldn’t have been the safest and it’s just not a big holiday in England Chris on the other hand, LOVES Halloween so he talked me into the idea of hosting a Halloween party.
After spending 2
hours days straight on pintrest I was sold.
We figured out pretty early our costumes. Chris would be a football player and I would be the referee. Why is it that almost all women’s Halloween costumes barely cover, well ANYTHING?!? Luckily, my ‘sister in law’ made some adjustments and thank gawd for shorts:
I think in the weeks before Halloween, I think I saw the insides of more dollars stores than a person sees in a lifetime. We found blue and green light bulbs which worked awesome throughout the house along with scoring some 50% of items from the Halloween stores on Saturday. We also were very lucky with being leant some decorations from my friend/co-worker/neighbour Sylvia. Just as a side note, if there is a house to hit on the westside on Halloween, it’s Sylvia’s.
Friday night, we were still in the middle of setting everything up when the trick or treaters started showing up. We had a lot of visitors and had to run out for more candy mid way through it . We saw some really cute costumes and had one pre-teen showing up demanding to know if we knew the muffin man… ?!?!
Saturday morning, we got up early with the intention to get everything done and have a mid afternoon nap… the nap never happened. Thankfully, my lovely friend Robyn came over and helped me get food together.. okay its was more like me shouting orders of ‘more pepper’, ‘fill those eggs’ and ‘ get that ramekin’.
Devilled eggs ( will red pepper devil horns)
Bacon wrapped lil smokies with brown sugar and maple syrup
Meat, cheese and olive tray
mozza sticks and wings
Chips and dips
I realized after that the photos didn’t turn out that well with the lights:
None of the of the photos the pool room or the basement worked so here are some highlights:
Around 11:30 I told Robyn I was going upstairs for a half an hour nap and that was the end of the night of me. That's what I got for getting up at 6am and no nap.
And then there was the morning after…
And costumes left behind
I think Jaxon slept 23 hours, only getting up to pee and eat.
Thanks to those who came, we had an awesome time with everyone!!!
We had a lot of good feedback about the party and we had a blast doing it , so much so that we have decided to make it an annual event 🙂
And next time, I’ll be getting that nap in during the day
Hope you had a good Halloween!!
