I happen to come from a world where I feel better with a tan. Something about a tan washes away those ugly Winter blues and replaces it with color and shorts. I will come right out with it : I been known to use the tanning bed. Oh I heard all about the cancer risks and sunspots but I somehow figured it was worth it. A few months back, I came across a Facebook page that one of my friends , Brandi had posted for her at home business called Organic Tan. I have done spray tans in the past. You know the kind, where you get into a UFO looking machine, hold your breathe while trying to remember all of the positions to ensure ‘ even coverage’ of color. None of these machines have ever created even coverage and left you with a gritty taste in your teeth.
So when Brandi had an opening for an appointment last week I figured I’d give it a try.
So, what is an organic tan?
One of the biggest features (for me) was that it has no odor. If you have ever had a spray tan , you know how badly you can smell after. An organic tan is also hypoallergenic, uses certified organic ingredients and perhaps most importantly to me , it doesn’t make you orange!
I’ve known Brandi for many years so it was easy for me to be comfortable with her. Even if you don’t know her, she’s easily one of the nicest people to comfortable around . I decided to do the tan with just the bottoms on.
What stuck out to me is how attention to detail the whole process was. There was cream for my hands, feet and knees. Cream was put in my nails individually to prevent staining.
To get the spray, you stand in dome that looks like this:
The whole process takes about 20 minutes. You will want to wear loose fitting clothing after and avoid flip-flops if you can ( I got a bit of a line from when it was drying). I let the color sit for 12 hours so that it would be nice and dark ( I showered before, not to worry 🙂 )
The day after I had the spray tan done, I was met with a ton of compliments about how I looked like I had been on vacation. When I shared that it was a spray tan, lots of people were surprised and commented on how natural and non orange it looked.
While photos barely do the tan justice, I thought I would post a couple:
This is of the following day:
The tan lasts for about 7-10 days.
I enjoyed the whole experience so much that I have already book an appointment for August. I would highly suggest this as an option to any one like me who loves to have at glow but wants to do it safely.
