After (sternly) being told that its been 6 months since I have blogged and that I need to ” get on that ” , I went on a wild memory chase of “where the crap did I hide my username/password”. This is the part where my dad informs me that I’m getting old and its all down hill from here 🙂 Any who, here we go..
Today I went to my first “Introduction to Buddhism” course after a friend told me about the classes ( thanks Derek). I was apprehensive to go. Each to their own, but I’m not really about organized anything, never mind religion. After spending an hour in a room listening to an older Japanese gentleman talk I was overwhelmed, confused and excited to learn more. The concepts of Buddhism are quite different than what I grew up with and although I didn’t understand all of it , I know for sure I will be going back…. And there was tea.
Last week I was milling around Chapters when I found myself in the journal section. I have this horrible habit of only capturing the hard times & getting midway through a thought and then getting distracted. So when I saw this journal, I knew I had to have it:
The idea goes like this: you fill in the year and then answer the question at the top of the page. Some days there are thoughtful questions and some days its things like ” name your favorite cheese”. One question a day, three lines to answer and you just keep doing it for five years and watch how your answers change . Neat hey?
A summary of Summer:
I tried to do as many things as I could this year. Vegas was planned sort of last-minute but it was a great trip, definitely wanting to be going back.
I also went to the airshow this year, however I do have to say I was pretty disappointed. It’s just not the same without the Snowbirds.
I have to mention Melinda in here as she stuck it out with me for the Alberta Summer Games as we volunteered for the overnight shift at LCI. Perhaps the longest 8 hour shifts of our lives.
One of the last things I did this Summer was to go to the Cypress Hills Winery. It sort of feels like this is becoming an end of season tradition and even though it’s a three-hour drive to get there, it’s always worth it. This year I took Lynda. We had a blast eating cheese and stocking up on wine. We later went on a road trip and found some steels at Winners in Medicine Hat, but not before stopping for tea and dessert.
(You may laugh at me for this) One of my favorite discovers lately has been Library… well it’s not really a discovery as the Library and I have a history. I haven’t been in years but after my dad talked me into getting a card I have to say I’ve been hooked ( although my easily distracted problem has me reading 3 books at the same time).
I’m starting to feel like this entry is a mishmash of everything
One of the happiest things I’ve seen come over my Facebook in the last few days was seeing my friends Katie and Kaella both having their babies. Congratulations ladies!!
So that’s about it for now. I clearly need to stay up on this blog a little more . Here’s a few photos from the summer.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
